The minimum energy efficiency of a transformer is an important parameter that any manufacturer or importer must know.
1) Definition:

Energy efficiency is the ratio in % between the active output power and the input active power of the distribution transformer.

2) Calculation method (formula):

In there:

E 50%: Efficiency in % of the transformer at 50% load and at a power factor of 1.

S: Transformer rated power, kVA.

Pk: Transformer load loss, kW.

Po: Transformer no-load loss, kW.

3) Example:
THIBIDI transformer 250kVA – 35/0.4kV:

S= 250kVA

Pk= 3.2kW

Po= 0.64kW

THIBIDI transformer 1800kVA – 22/0.4kV:

S= 1800kVA

Pk= 17.8kW

Po= 2.5kW
